The best way to start is to stop!

Robin Leboe - Tuesday, January 03, 2012

There is only one cardinal sin: impatience. Because of impatience we were driven out of paradise, because of impatience we cannot return. Franz Kafka

Remember the days before Pentecost?  The disciples want to ‘get going’.  They have seen the risen Christ! They are filled with optimism and courage.  However, they are not yet filled with Christ!  How frail their optimism.  How temporary their courage.  Only the hope of the Spirit and the courage of Christ will power them through the coming days.

While we wait we contemplate the promises of Christ
Waiting is entirely fuelled and focused on the promises of God. Missionary effectiveness begins here!

Acts 1:5,8...You will receive th

e Holy Spirit…You will receive power when he comes…”You will be my witnesses!...

While we wait we pray.
When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying… They all joined together constantly in prayer (Acts 1:13-15)

All true prayer is ‘a waiting on God’. Prayer makes waiting productive.

Why is this?

Prayer feeds on Christ and his promises.
Prayer stores and builds up the momentum of Holy Spirit. When the storehouse is full the dam of blessing bursts!

So here we are, a new year; New hopes and resolves.
Can't wait to get started.
And what better way to start than to stop!

To wait is to defy the impatience of the flesh.
